Good Mourning Vince.

Vince CarterGrowing up a Nets fan, Vince Carter was always my favorite player (even in Toronto). I remember the day it was announced that he was being traded to the Nets, I thought I must’ve been the happiest person at the time. Watching Jason Kidd go to Dallas, and Richard Jefferson going to Milwaukee (now with Spurs) was really difficult, but I can say that (sadly,) I am ecstatic to see Vince go to Orlando. Why? Well, take a look, Vince averaged 20.8 ppg last year. We all can agree that he is on the down side of his career, so trading him (and Ryan Anderson) for Courtney Lee, Rafer Alston, and Tony Battie should be a good move because the total ppg for the newly acquired Nets for the 2008 – 2009 season was 22.3, which should rise (if Courtney and Rafer have a season as good as last one). Also, don’t forget about Yi, who did outstanding during the FIBA games, is expected to contribute more ppg than he did last year, along with Brook and Devin. Another reason I’m happy to see Vince go is that as a fan of the player aswell, we all know that the chances of Vince getting a championship ring playing for Orlando (also his home town) than with him playing with New Jersey is about the chances of  the Nets making the finals over the Magic, to be realistic (truth hurts). So to the trade I say, Congrats to both teams. Nets make the playoffs and Vince finally gets the big one.
